National Bike to School Day (lists K-12 May events)
Wed., May 8 is National Bike to School Day. Families are encouraged to bike and walk to school, with many schools offering incentives during the month of May. Families should contact school administrators or MOVE Santa Barbara County (Kim for the South Coast: kim@movesbcounty.org, or Terrence for Noth County: terrence@movesbcounty.org) to learn more. There are 21 schools participating on the South Coast, 4 schools in SYV, and 5 schools in Santa Maria.
Accessibility: We have seats available for those who can’t ride a bike but would like to join the ride as a trishaw passenger (courtesy of Cycling Without Age). Call (805) 845-8955 ext. 3 to reserve a spot by May 1st.

- Students are welcome to visit MOVE’s booth at the Battle School Wellness Fair to improve your biking abilities. Join the skills cone course designed for young students to learn about stopping, power pedal positioning, and signaling. Give it a go and enjoy the experience!

- Hosted by the Solvang Chamber of Commerce, Healthy Kids Bike event will take place On National Bike Day, May 8th, 2024, the Chamber invites children from Solvang Elementary School and Solvang Middle School to pedal their way to Solvang Park and to a healthier lifestyle. This event aims to inspire kids to embrace wellness by biking to school, promoting physical activity, and fostering a love for healthy living and riding towards a brighter, healthier future together.
