Bike to Nature Rides

Accessing nature with children is an easy ride!
Rides May 16 and 23 in Santa Barbara and Goleta

Families with kids are invited on a neighborhood ride to a special outdoor spot with guided nature activities. Rides will follow “Family Walk & Roll” routes, which are specifically created for families in neighborhoods throughout SB County.  Each ride will be led by a certified biking instructor from the Coalition for Sustainable Transportation (COAST) and will include a nature destination (park, beach, preserve, etc.) where families will be led in activities by staff from Wilderness Youth Project (WYP). There are three separate rides being offered:

Sunday May 16, 9AM-12PM (REGISTRATION CLOSED 5/16/21)
Santa Barbara Mesa Loop and Douglas Family Preserve
Ride begins at Shoreline Park near Las Ondas Street

Goleta Ride to Lake Los Carneros

• We ask all families to review the Family Walk & Roll page, with tips on riding with kids, and short videos for kids and adults about biking safely.
• HELMETS: Riders under the age of 18 must wear helmets (California law). COAST/SBBIKE/WYP recommend all riders wear a helmet. Brief video for proper helmet fitting.
• WATER, SNACKS, SUN PROTECTION: Come prepared for the three-hour adventure.
